150 of every 100,000 have MS
ABOUT 150 out of every 100,000 Malaysians suffer from multiple sclerosis (MS), said Deputy Health Minister Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin.
“Multiple sclerosis is an auto-immune disease that attacks the spinal cord and the brain, causing physical and cognitive failure as well as disability,” she told Sim Tong Him (DAP-Kota Melaka).
Sim had asked the Health Ministry to state the number of people suffering from MS and the ministry’s efforts to help patients and the medical costs involved.
She said the ministry would work with NGOs to give counselling and support to help MS patients.
